The theme of the 27th National Day for Helping the Disabled, “promote disability prevention and good health for xiaokang”, was published by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation on May 11. The day itself is May 21.

Rehabilitation is the most urgent need of the disabled. The Chinese government attaches great importance to disability work in China, and China has achieved progress in realizing the goal of “everyone can receive rehabilitation services”.

The number of persons with disabilities increases by about two million each year in China. A series of problems still exists in disability prevention and management of persons with disabilities. About 46 percent of the disabled are in need of rehabilitation services in China.

National Day for Helping the Disabled was held for the first time in 1991, and is attracting more and more attention from our society. Local governments will launch various activities to help the disabled.
